How long will Eid holidays be in Oman? Likely dates revealed

Muscat: Citizens and residents of the Sultanate of Oman are looking forward to an extended holiday break for Eid Al Fitr, the first major holiday of 2025, with the potential for either a five or nine-day duration, contingent on the Moon sighting.

The Moon-sighting committee is scheduled to convene on Saturday, March 29 (Ramadan 29), to determine the visibility of the crescent Moon. If the Moon is sighted, Ramadan will conclude after 29 days, and the Eid holiday will span from Sunday, March 30, to Tuesday, April 1. This scenario, combined with the preceding weekend, would result in a five-day break, with work resuming on Wednesday, April 2.

However, if the Moon is not sighted on March 29, Ramadan will extend to 30 days, and Sunday, March 30 (Ramadan 30), will also be declared a holiday. In this instance, the Eid holiday will continue until Wednesday, April 2. When factoring in Thursday, April 3, and the two weekends surrounding the holiday, residents would enjoy a nine-day break.

This potential extended holiday period provides a valuable opportunity for people in Oman to celebrate Eid Al Fitr and spend quality time with their families and friends.
